I had the pleasure of talking with Yale Climate Connections about my recent research into the risk of wildfires rereleasing radioactive particles from areas contaminated by nuclear accidents and spillages.

The conversation builds on an article I published in the journal Fire at the beginning of the year, which provides a perspective of the problem and the general increase in the frequency, scale and intensity of wildfires in the Atomic Age.
It also draws on a book chapter I wrote together with Jonathon Turnbull from the University of Cambridge, which examines the long-term lived experiences of living with wildfires, and the uncertainty of potentially radioactive smoke, in post-Chornobyl Ukraine.
